First off, lets examine what mlm or network marketing opportunities are. They are a business that offers to sell goods or services in a different way than at retail level in a store. You become the store and earn the commissions instead of the big chain store to make them richer.

Well you join with a network marketing company starting as an independent distributor. You now have your own business and able to market the product or service attached to the company you chose to work with. Your business is all about the companies product or service that they offer.

You then start to develop your business in two ways. First by presenting either your business model to other people and getting them to become an independent distributor. Or second by getting customers for your product or service. This starts to create your down line and starts to build sales volume and that is where your earnings are coming from.

It takes a while to get enough sales volume in any network marketing company to have a booming business, but seeing most people begin with as multi level marketing business part time, it is a way to develop a business without having to have thousands of dollars into start up like a traditional brick and mortar business.

Don’t get me wrong, starting a multi level marketing business does have costs involved but just not to the same degree as a store front business model. You do not have they same required overhead of a store front business with the major factor being no mortgage or rent of the building and property as your business is done at home.

When you join a network marketing company you do have some similar costs as a brick and mortar business and those would be have the proper tools and equipment for your business. You also need a marketing budget so you will be able to spread the word about your business.
